Histoire du Soldat
DESCRIPTION
"I will also record the fact that during the composition of Histoire du soldat Tristan Tzara and the other initiators of the Dada movement tried to persuade me to join them. I could see no future in Dada, however, and no musical use for it at all; and though the word 'Dada' sounded like 'yes yes' to my Russian ears, what the Dadaists where themselves saying amounted to something more like 'no no' (no offence to the composer of the Canto Sospeso). [...] The unique example of Dada in music is John Cage". (R. Craft, – I. Stravinskij, Expositions and Developments, University of California Press 1967)
