Treatise
DESCRIPTION
Composed between 1963 and 1967, Treatise by the English composer Cornelius Cardew (1936-1981) is one of the most extensive and elaborate graphic scores ever made. It is a 193-page long musical work featuring various symbols, some of which recall conventional musical notation, others are abstract lines or shapes. The score is not accompanied by any explicit instructions for the performers on how to perform the work, which instruments or sound devices should be used, how the pages should be read and in what order: all performative choices fall entirely on the performers.
In this electroacoustic version, Francesco Fusaro performs the first 88 pages of this revered composition.
